Jude C Easy Peasy Bacon-Wrapped Scallops Sep 23, 2008 4:59 PM I made these after watching a Hell's Kitchen clip on Hulu of the Hell's Kitchen sous chef, Scott, making them (clip below). He serves them with wilted arugula, "micro-greens" (don't know what those are--little tiny plants, I guess?) and sauce, but I just paired them with some parmesan risotto, and I imagine they'd be just fine served on their own. They're a party pleaser!
Jude C I love Trader Joe's. Jul 25, 2008 10:46 PM You guys, if you have a Trader Joe's near you and you're not vegetarian, you must try their tri-tip roast. It's already marinated; you pop it in the oven for about 30-40 minutes, and you have the most perfect roast beef ever. I'm so obsessed with this right now. I think we've had three in the last two weeks. All you need to do is think of some side, and, you know, Trader Joe's will probably have that, too.
justanerd1975 cheeseburger pizza & salads Jul 15, 2008 4:01 PM Easiest ever and kids and hubby love! Ever made one? If you don't have a pizza dough ready since the night before that you've prepared, use one from Pillsbury :) Roll out dough, top with Don Pepinos pizza sauce(or anything, hubs just likes thiers- it is darn good) and sprinkle on browned ground beef (cooked with half an onion, diced) and slices of pepperoni(we just like to add that, like a meat lovers, lol) and then the mozzarella cheese and bake 425 degrees, 10 -12 min. Serve with a salad of romaine lettuce, tomato, cucumber and chow mein noodles like we did, if you desire.
Jude C It's good to be a world leader. Jul 8, 2008 2:16 PM From the Daily Mail: Summit that's hard to swallow - world leaders enjoy 18-course banquet as they discuss how to solve global food crisis By James Chapman Just two days ago, Gordon Brown was urging us all to stop wasting food and combat rising prices and a global shortage of provisions. But yesterday the Prime Minister and other world leaders sat down to an 18-course gastronomic extravaganza at a G8 summit in Japan, which is focusing on the food crisis. The dinner, and a six-course lunch, at the summit of leading industrialised nations on the island of Hokkaido, included delicacies such as caviar, milkfed lamb, sea urchin and tuna, with champagne and wines flown in from Europe and the U.S. But the extravagance of the menus drew disapproval from critics who thought it hypocritical to produce such a lavish meal when world food supplies are under threat. On Sunday, Mr Brown called for prudence and thrift in our kitchens, after a Government report concluded that 4.1million tonnes of food was being wasted by householders. He suggested we could save up to £8 a week by making our shopping go further. It was vital to reduce 'unnecessary demand' for food, he said. Last night's dinner menu was created by Katsuhiro Nakamura, the first Japanese chef to win a Michelin star. It was themed: Hokkaido, blessings of the earth and the sea.
